Kaizer Chiefs are the Amakhosi of excuses after Swallows flop

Kaizer Chiefs coach Cavin Johnson has shared his belief that some members of his squad were anxious before and during theur clash with Swallows.

Chiefs recorded yet another goalless draw, their fourth of the current campaign, on Saturday.

Kaizer Chiefs are the Amakhosi of excuses once again

Johnson promised fans an improvement but seemed to be clutching at straws when making post-match comments.

The coach felt his team were anxious in front of goal.

He called on Kaizer Chiefs to be more aggressive in the final third.

“I think some of them are (anxious), I think we train like that and sometimes when you train and see the anxiousness in the players and they’re training and want to go,” Johnson told SuperSport.

“We know they’re ready but come the game than some of them are not on, some of them are off and you wonder what’s happening.

“I just think maybe sometimes we got to treat a little bit different than all of them, but the bottom-line we have to come out more aggressively, we have to end more aggressively, we have to want to score the goals more aggressively.”

Wasteful striking

Johnson felt that Ranga Chivaviro should have been on the board given the chances that presented themselves to the striker.

“I thought we had the time like you say in the first half especially with Rang, Ja with Ranga he had to score the goals,” Johnson added.

“That has to be it, whatever you said now that has to be it. Golden Arrows owes this team that has to be it, Tuesday we coming back and coming back to win.”

A red card to Edmilson Dove allowed Swallows to make more of the game in the second half.

Neither side really mounted a significant threat and ultimately it was a poor game to watch whether you were neutral or rooting for Swallows or Chiefs.

Johnson’s style of football imposed on Kaizer Chiefs isn’t winning over the fans. He won’t be long for this role.
