Orlando Pirates make huge call on Richard Ofori

Orlando Pirates have offered Ghanaian goalkeeper Richard Ofori a new contract.

Ofori to stay put at Orlando Pirates

Richard Ofori is yet to feature for the Buccaneers in the DStv Prem this season and had a tournament to forget at Afcon. However, according to SoccerLaduma, The Sea Robbers want to extend his contract.

“It’s as good as done. It’s the club (Pirates) that makes the decision to exercise the option and they have agreed that for all departments from the technical team to management. They have reached an agreement that he needs to stay on for yet another year which was added to his (Ofori) contract when he extended last season for one year and another one-year option. As it stands now it’s as good as done,” said one source.

“The team needs three or four experienced goalkeepers and he is one of them. He may not be playing locally but when the team goes to Africa they will need him. They are fighting to go back to play in the Champions League and they will need all the experienced players and he is one of them. So, the contract extension is to keep him for those reasons,” said the second source.

BUCS KEEN TO SIGN MOGAILA FOR FREE

Versatile Royal AM wide player Shaune Mogaila is now available on a free transfer, and he’s been a target for the Buccaneers for some time. According to FARPost, Pirates aren’t the only side showing an interest. Mogaila can operate on either flank of attack or defence, making him a priceless option. Although not a direct replacement, he’d be a great squad player. There is also reportedly foreign interest in the player.
