Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has given his Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) medal to Jomo Sono.
Broos steered Bafana Bafana to third at the recent Afcon tournament which was held in Cote d’Ivoire.
Now, Broos has passed his own medal to Sono in recognition of his contribution to South African football, said the South African Football Association (Safa) in a statement.
According to the statement, Sono had paid a courtesy visit to Saga president Dr Danny Jordaan when Broos surprised him with this special gift.
Mind you, Bafana Bafana had not won anything at Afcon tournaments in 24 years when they won bronze at the 2000 edition of the finals.

“This is a huge surprise for me,” Sono said.
“This is a massive gesture from Coach Hugo Broos and SAFA. What a surprise. This means so much to me and I will treasure this medal.”
