19-year-old Wandile Duba scored the only goal, and what a goal it was, against Golden Arrows on his first start for the club. It was his maiden goal for Kaizer Chiefs, and the Glamour Boys’ first strike of the calendar year. However, it came at a potential cost.
“I am happy for young Dube, he scored a beautiful goal in the first half,” Johnson told SuperSport TV.
“We had to take him off the pitch because his ankle got hurt. We gave the youngster his moment, he was good, and he got hurt and we had to take him off, and I feel sorry for him.” said Cavin Johnson on match-winner Wandile Duba, who was substituted on 67 minutes.

“I think he is a good coach. Maybe if he goes to a bigger team with more resources and all that than Free State Stars. He might do well. I just don’t know how he offered himself to Chiefs and what was the conversation there.”

The red card he subsequently received ruled him out of Amakhosi’s midweek 1-0 win over Golden Arrows and a clash with Orlando Pirates at the weekend. The Glamour Boys face Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby on Saturday 9 March. Kickoff in the big one is at 15:30.
