Orlando Pirates aim to avoid ‘Lyle Foster situation’ with latest prodigy!

Orlando Pirates could be set to lose one of their most promising young strikers to Europe at the end of the season.

Pirates could revamp their striking department next season and Mohau Nkota was thought to be part of those plans.

Nkota has been impressing for Pirates in the DStv Diski Challenge, which sparked rumours that he would get promoted. That has not proven to be the case for the talented youngster, who has remained with the reserves so far. Now according to Soccer-Laduma the club are making contingency plans to ensure they don’t lose him like Lyle Foster

Pirates cautious over Nkota

“The boy (Nkota)  has been offered a four-year contract. The main reason is that they (Pirates) don’t want to lose him to Europe like they did with Lyle Foster when he went there. They learnt their lessons and now they want to benefit from their hard work in development. But this deal will be good for both the player and the team as it will beneRt both of them right now,”. Said one source.

A second source says Pirates are thinking ahead for next season, with regards to Nkota.

“He (Nkota)  is ready for first team action. They (Pirates) want him to walk in the footsteps of other youngsters like Relebohile (Mofokeng) and others before them who were promoted from the junior side to the senior team and this new contract for the senior team is meant to build the team for the future and give the youngster the chance to prove himself as he has been doing for the DDC team,” said the source.

Pirates lost Foster very suddenly, to French Ligue 1 giants Monaco FC, a few seasons back. It was a surprise as the youngster was still establishing himself in the first team. On the other hand, Nkota is yet to make his senior debut, although he is thought to be promoted.
