Boost for Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates as fee for top target drops!

Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will be happy to hear the new asking price for a top target.

Stanley Nwabali was impressive for Nigeria at Afcon, attracting interest from Pirates and European clubs in addition to Chiefs.

Nwabali, who currently plies his trade for Chippa United, was a surprise inclusion as first choice for Nigeria at Afcon. This was due to the fact that he had only one cap for the Super Eagles prior to the showpiece. He would end up playing all seven games for Nigeria in Ivory Coast, keeping four clean sheets. He also played a huge role in the team finishing as runners-up at the tournament. That also saw his name and reputation skyrocket, with more European clubs reportedly on his radar, making things difficult for Chiefs.

At some point, it was reported that Chiefs had thrown in the towel with regards their attempt to sign Nwabali. That was expected to give Pirates free rein to the player. It was thought that the Buccaneers were hoping to exchange Richard Ofori and money for him. It was then reported that Chippa slapped at R40 million price tag on the Super Eagle. But now according to Soccer-Laduma that asking price has been slashed in half.

Nwabali to cost Chiefs and Pirates R20 million?

“The latest news reaching this publication, via a source close to the dealings, is that the side from Gqeberha has placed a price tag of around R20 million for his services. Soccer Laduma understands that Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq in Saudi and Queens Park Rangers are amongst the teams that have made an approach for the player’s services, though there are a few others keen on the 1.96m keeper.” Wrote the publication.

It remains to be seen if Chiefs or Pirates will be willing to fork out that amount for one player. Nwabali, however, is still most likely to leave for a move abroad should he leave Chippa at the end of the season.
