Kaizer Chiefs have identified Elias Mokwana as one of their primary transfer targets for June. However, his fondness for Orlando Pirates might be a problem.
Mokwana has a soft spot for Orlando Pirates
24-year-old Sekhukhune United winger Elias Mokwana has shone this term with four goals and three assists in 15 league appearances. He’s in the latest Bafana squad for friendlies against Algeria and Andorra. Mokwana arrived at Babina Noko from Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Platinum City Rovers in 2022. He was also on the Afcon standby list. According to The Citizen, Mokwana has always admired Chiefs but has admitted to having a soft spot for Sowetor rivals Pirates. Will that be a problem?
According to the source, the wide attacker has always admired Chiefs though he also has a soft spot for Pirates. Right now, Chiefs are favourites if the Glamour Boys table a satisfactory offer to the player. Mokwana was on the Afcon standby list for Bafana Bafana and is desperate to become a regular for his country. Sources close to the player believe Mokwana would prefer Chiefs as he might be guaranteed more playing time, and that would make his Bafana prospects a lot stronger.
KAIZER CHIEFS AND ORLANDO PIRATES KEEN ON SINGH
Both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are reportedly monitoring the situation of 26-year-old winger Luther Singh. That’s according to Soccer-Laduma. The Soweto-born star made his Bafana Bafana debut in March 2017 and has 13 caps for South Africa overall to go along with three goals.
“Ok. Yes there’s been contact from Europe, Sweden, Norway, the MLS League and the Saudi League. Several African giants have made contact including a Soweto team (either Chiefs or Pirates) in South Africa. We have also received an offer from an Egyptian team but we declined it. All options on the table will be looked at. We need to make the best decision for Luther’s (Singh) future.” said the source.
