Sir Dave Brailsford saw Eric Ramsay as having potential to be Manchester United assistant manager – Man United News And Transfer News

INEOS and in particular Sir Dave Brailsford have apparently been left disappointed by the departure of former Manchester United coach, Eric Ramsay.

The 32 year old was brought to Old Trafford in 2021 by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to join the coaching team and to specialise on set piece training.

He did not enjoy the best reputation amongst United fans during his time at the club, due to the team’s poor record both offensively and defensively from corners and free kicks whilst the Welshman was working at Carrington.

Ramsay eventually left the Red Devils last month to take up a coaching role in the United States as head coach for Minnesota United, who have won one and lost the other game in their opening two MLS matches.

As mentioned before, not many fans lost too much sleep over the coach’s departure, but according to The Athletic, new owners INEOS had very different feelings on the matter.

The outlet reports, if INEOS decide to keep Erik ten Hag in place for next season, they might consider a coaching reshuffle, “including the addition of a new voice at assistant level”.

“INEOS would advocate a young, yet established, British coach to supplement the group but Ten Hag is firmly of the opinion that a coach’s nationality is not relevant”.

Interestingly it is also reported that, “Eric Ramsay was seen by Brailsford as having the potential to assume that kind of role, but he decided to take the No 1 job at Minnesota United in Major League Soccer”.

Generally speaking, Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s ownership has been well received by United supporters and moves such as appointing Brailsford, Jean-Claude Blanc and Omar Berrada have been praised.

The pursuit of the likes of Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox are also seen as strong moves by most fans.

Brailsford and Ratcliffe have also reportedly made good impressions on fans and players alike when they have discussed the future with them.

However, links to managers such as Gareth Southgate and Graham Potter have not been met with much enthusiasm and past interest in not only keeping Ramsay about but giving him a promotion, will likely not sit too well with most of the Old Trafford faithful.
