Two foreign clubs interested in Orlando Pirates star!

Orlando Pirates are already planning for the next season, with both incomings and outgoings in focus.

Pirates made a number of signings during the off-season, as well as the January transfer window.

They signed  Melusi Buthelezi from TS Galaxy, Siphelo Baloni from All Stars FC and Katlego Otladisa from Marumo Gallants. They were joined by Karim Kimvuidi, Lesedi Kapinga and Patrick Maswanganyi. Then in January, Pirates added the duo of Thabiso Lebitso and Thalenthe Mbatha. In January, stalwart Thembinkosi Lorch and Bienvenu Eva Nga both left the club for Mamelodi Sundowns and Chippa United respectfully.

Those players are expected to be followed out of the exit door by a few more, in the coming window. The likes of Zakhele Lepasa, Souaibou Marou, Sandile Mthethwa, among those touted for an exit. Another name that could enter that list soon is goalkeeper Richard Ofori. The Ghanaian international has been at least third choice for the past two seasons at Pirates.

Ofori leaving Pirates?

At the end of last season, Pirates offered Ofori a new one-year extension to his deal. Maybe it was them giving their former number the benefit of the doubt after injury ravaged seasons. But his fortunes have not changed in the current season, which has cast fresh doubt on his stay at the club.  Now according to FARPost, the club is yet to indicate any interest in keeping the former Maritzburg United star. Furthermore, he has already attracted interest from outside the country should he decide to leave!

Two foreign clubs interested?

“It appears the Buccaneers (Pirates) haven’t spoken to Ofori over the possibility of renewing his contract with two months left before it expires. The Accra-born, Ofori is allowed to pen a pre-contract with any club of his choice as he’s now within the final six months of his contract with the Soweto giants. Furthermore, two clubs from outside South Africa have shown interest in the 30-year-old.” Wrote the publication.

Pirates could well overhaul their goalkeeping department by releasing both Ofori and Siyabonga Mpontshane at the end of the season. They could then bring in Stanley Nwabali to compete along side Sipho Chaine and Buthelezi.
